Houston SX II: Brit report – Wilson, Woodcock, Muc-Off Honda

Catching up with Brits Dean Wilson, Dylan Woodcock and the Muc-Off team after the second Houston Monster Energy Supercross round…

Dean Wilson

Wilson got off to a top ten start in 450 Heat 2. The Scot found himself in an intense battle for the final transfer position early on. But with a handful of laps left DW15 stepped it up a gear to grab sixth place at the chequers.

In the Main Event Wilson earned another decent top ten start and he battled with his teammate Jason Anderson early on. He hovered just outside the top for the remainder of the race, ultimately finishing in 11th position. Deano also sits 11th in the points standings, just behind his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team-mate Zach Osborne.

“Tonight was a little bit better but 11th is not the result we are looking for,” Wilson said. “I just needed to start up front and get in that fight a little more, but I was right there.

“I mean, I am surrounded by guys who are winning races so I feel like I am strong enough to be in the mix, I just need to put myself in that position every time. I am getting better and more comfortable, now I just need to believe in myself a little bit more and I’ll be there.”

Dylan Woodcock

Once again Dylan Woodcock gave us something to cheer about in the 250 class by making the main event and getting plenty of TV time. Although, his route to the main was a little more dramatic this week. Woodcock finished 10th in his heat, missing out on an automatic transfer by just one place.

Dylan had some work to do in the LCQ after a so-so start, but he was able to capitalise on the mistakes of the guys in front of him to move into a qualifying position. Woodcock momentarily lost his qualification spot as the hard charging Kevin Moranz was able to make a pass stick. But the English lad retaliated quickly, summoning his best Ashley Greedy impersonation to give Moranz a love tap on his way back into a qualifying place. Dylan went on to finish second in the LCQ.

The Stunt Flying Kawasaki privateer had a much better time of it in the Main Event this time out. Woodcock was running as high as 17th at one point, eventually coming home in 19th position. Woodcock sits 21st in the points standings. Once again, a solid effort for the young English lad.

Muc-Off Honda

Our Brit report wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the Muc-Off Honda squad. Once again Yarrive Konsky’s team did a stellar job representing the British-based brand. Mitchell Oldenburg started things off nicely for the team with a third-place ride in 250 heat one. Oldenburg went on to finish seventh in the 250 main.

The big story for Muc-Off Honda was Justin Brayton’s incredible podium ride. The 36-year-old veteran racer provided a real highlight not only for his team but for fans around the world with his age defying performance on Tuesday.
