‘The track was complete garbage’ – Barcia

Justin Barcia seemed to struggle slightly during round eight of the Monster Energy Supercross, not so much with his bike or himself, but more the track conditions. Speaking in the post-race press conference Barcia discusses how his night went.

“I destroyed myself in practice.” Said Barcia. ” So i was kind of slow getting going in the heat race and then the main event, I was trying to jump but it was not happening for me so i just went for it and yeah, it was alright.”

“The track was disappointing, just because they didn’t even rebuild the whoops from the first race, so it was just complete garbage. It was like a full on Salt Lake City, I was all over the place, I was skimming the whoops down the middle and that sent me outside on that last lap and Kenny was closer than I thought and he was there so it was pretty close to him.”

“Qualifying in eighteenth is not confidence boosting whatsoever and my ribs hurt pretty bad, but i dont think anything is broken else i would be really messed up, but honestly it was just a wierd, wierd morning for me, in first practice i felt good and then i just landed on the finish line and prpbably grabbed too much front brake and i just went flying.”

“So like to come out and get third, I feel it took a lot of mental toughness, for sure, just, never, never give up kind of attitude that’s how I’ve always been. It was a good night you know, like I’ve said, this is not my best conditions. I’m kind of a guy who likes to grab a handful and traction, So this has been definitely teaching me to be smooth and everything’s still pretty new to me.”

“We got some more work to do and want to, you know, want to win a lot more races, it’s not over till it’s over.”
