Arlington SX II: Career first for Hunter Lawrence

The Monster Energy Supercross Championship dived into the second round of three this evening at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas, with Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen heading up the 450SX Class, and HRC Honda’s Hunter Lawrence claiming his first main event win.

Heat one chaos for the 250SX Class tonight in Arlington, with Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Seth hammaker holeshotting heat one, meanwhile behind him there was a huge pile up on the second corner, resulting in several riders getting collected and going down. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Stilez Robertson had a great ride, with Hammaker claiming the 250SX Heat one win as HRC Honda’s Hunter Lawrence followed closely behind.

Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Justin Cooper bagged another great hole shot in the 250SX Heat two, but Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Cameron Mcadoo didn’t let him go easy, putting the pressure on Cooper which caused him to make a mistake in the whoops section which allowed Mcadoo and Marchbanks to fly through. Mcadoo only just managed to hold Cooper off at the finish, making it two heat race wins for the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team.

Muc Off Honda’s Mitchell Harrison sealed the holeshot in tonight’s 250SX main event, and pulled a decent gap in front of Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Jalek Swoll, his team mate Stilez Robertson unfortunately suffered a damaged foot after getting hit by another rider in the 250SX heat race, which caused him to not line up for the main event in Arlington.

The Usual contenders of Mcadoo, Hammaker and Cooper made some silly mistakes mid moto which led them to finish further down the pack, and resulted in Mcadoo cutting a lot of track out re joining the race, Allowing Hunter Lawrence to shoot through and take his very first 250SX Main event win.

Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha’s very own Aaron Plessinger grabbed the holeshot away from the returning HRC Honda’s Chase Sexton in the 450SX Heat one race, Whilst the Troy lee Designs Gas Gas Justin Barcia gave Ken Roczen the usual ‘Bam Bam’ treatment to take third from Roczen. Muc Off Honda’s Justin Brayton however did not have much luck in this heat, after he crashed out and suffered a DNF, and also Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Holeshot king Dean Wilson suffered a locked up back wheel which caused him to have to push his bike back to the pit area.

Red Bull Factory KTM’s Cooper Webb grabbed yet another confident gate drop tonight in heat two, whilst Monster Energy Star Yamaha’s Malcolm Stewart chased behind during a battle with Eli Tomac. British rider Max Anstie of Twisted Tea HEP Motorsports Suzuki worked his way through the pack in tonight’s heat race finishing eighth which advanced him straight into the main event.

Eli Tomac charged the start of the 450SX Main event as he followed on from his qualifying, chasing down Cooper Webb as he tried to shake off Ken Roczen behind him. After getting a main event podium on saturday evening, Jason Anderson tucked the front on the start after colliding with another rider, which meant he had to work his way back through the pack.

Cooper Webb won the 450SX Main Event at Arlington II, going back to back with two race wins, the question is can he make it three out of three at the Texas supercross this saturday evening? if Eli and Roczen keep adding the pressure like they did tonight, it’s all to play for.
