MXGB: Gilbert targets end-of-season wins

Par Homes Husqvarna’s Josh Gilbert turned heads during the 2020 race season, featuring in the MXGP World Championship and the Revo MXGB Championship.

Speaking to DBR, Gilbert explained how he has been dealing with his recent recovery and looking towards his rookie 450 year in the 2021 race season.

“My recovery is going really well. It’s been two months since I’ve had the operation and so far everything seems to be going as planned,” explained Gilbert.

“For the first couple of weeks I was a little restricted to what I could do training wise but my knee felt pretty strong straight away, I was able to fully weight bear on it four days post op and was walking without crutches nine days post op. At the moment I’m just doing lots of strength workouts and cycling to get the knee as strong as possible for when I get back on a bike.

“The goals for this year is to get back completely healthy and go racing! I’m unsure if I’ll be making the start of the season but I know when I do come back I’m going to have to be a little bit patient and build each week.

“I’ll be behind on a lot of bike time but I hope as the season progresses so will my results. It’s also my rookie season in the 450s so it’ll be a lot of learning. It would be nice to get some podiums and possibly a couple race wins by the end of the season.”
