MX Nationals and MXGB clash solution announced
Michelin MX Nationals and the Revo MXGB Championship have had some calendar problems recently with date clashes causing riders to choose between the two.
British championsip bosses decided to change their Foxhill date to Saturday June 19, whilst the MX Nationals already had that date in place for the Hawkstone round of their championship. This has then caused the riders to either forfeit one round of the championship completely, or undertake a 2.5-hour drive from Foxhill in Swindon on Saturday to Hawkstone in Shrewsbury on the Sunday to grab points in both championships.
Paul Irwin, owner and founder of the MX Nationals championship, has released a statement with a work-around for riders wanting to attend both championships.
“As most of you know there is a clash of championships on the 19th/20th June between the MX Nationals and the Revo ACU championship,” said Irwin.
“Although this is far from ideal and certainly not something the MX Nationals wanted, it is not possible to change, so we must deal with the challenge ahead. Firstly, it is great to see the support we have in the paddock with many riders booking in for both days at Hawkstone.
“In an effort to make this situation work for as many riders as we can, we will try and accommodate those riders attending Foxhill on the Saturday and where possible allow them to ride on the Sunday only.
“They will obviously lose championship points from not attending Saturday’s racing, but we will make it so that all riders re-qualify on Sunday. The schedule for the weekend will be almost identical to round one apart from a Sunday morning ten minute timed session for grid positions in all classes. There will be no sighting laps then before race one on Sunday. This is an impossible situation so please work with us.”
