MXGP Maggiora: Osterhagen claims first EMX125 double win
Factory Fantic Team Maddii rider claimed his first ever EMX125 overall win and extended his championship lead today in Maggiora.
Valerio Lata grabbed the holeshot in the second EMX125 moto ahead of championship leader Hakkon Osterhagen in second, with brit Bobby Bruce sitting down in third for the opening couple of laps before hitting neutral which pushed him back down to fourth position.
Lata was riding so defensive in the early laps to keep Osterhagen at bay, as the Kawasaki rider Sacha Coenen charged after the Fantic rider in third place. Lata’s back end then stepped out coming down the hill which allowed Haakon to move up into the race lead.
Sacha Coenen then made a huge move into second place running the early race leader Lata out wide on the start straight, and then started to close the gap on Osterhagen. After setting the fastest lap of the race with ten minutes to go, Coenen crashed out moving Bruce up to third. Meanwhile brit riders James Barker and Bailey Johnstone finished a great 26th and 27th in a stacked 125 field.
Hakkon Osterhagen claimed his first ever double race win in EMX125, extending his championship lead.
