British Masters: ‘It’s a nice way to start the season’ – Liam Knight

Hawkstone park hosted round one of the Bridgestone British Masters at the weekend as British MX1 and MX2 riders warmed up for the season ahead, with Gabriel Motocross KTM rider Liam Knight taking a Pro Class win.

Liam has been a strong contender in the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship in previous seasons, with top ten finishes across the board. After spending the winter training in Spain, this has clearly helped give him that extra edge going into this years championships.

“I felt pretty comfortable from the start. Qualifying second was good for a gate pick and I know I’m good on the concrete starts so I was pretty confident I could get two good starts.” Explained Knight.

“I got the holeshot in race one and led the whole race, it got pretty close at the end with Tommy Searle and the last lap was intense but managed to hold on.”

“Race two I got the holeshot again and tried to really attack for the first part of the race and my speed was good but, I crashed over the back after Tommy got past me. Josh spinks run over my bike and buckled my front wheel but I managed to get back up and get back to Second.”

“So it was good day for me, my riding is good and it’s a nice way to start the season. Got to give a big thanks to Simon and the Gabriel motocross team for all their effort.”
