Dakar Rally: Ricky Brabec leads four-man Monster Energy Honda effort

With the start of the 2021 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia just weeks away, the Monster Energy Honda Team was officially presented to the world’s media today across Honda’s social nextworks.

The main goal in January will be to defend the #1 plate won at the start of the year by America’s Ricky Brabec who will be backed up this time around by José Ignacio Cornejo, Kevin Benavides and Joan Barreda. All four finished the last edition of the Dakar as Brabec made history by becoming the first American rider to win the event.

Chilean Cornejo was fourth last time and showed great ability to adapt to the Saudi Arabian territory and Argentinean rider Kevin Benavides, who was runner-up in 2018, is a definite contender who won this year’s Andalucía Rally.

This will be Joan Barreda’s 12th Dakar and the Spaniard holds the record for the highest number of stage wins with 24.
