Indy SX: Craig causes 250 controversy

Monster Energy’s Star Racing Yamaha rider Christian Craig caused some controversy at the first Monster Energy Supercross round at Indianapolis.

Unfortunately, in the final moments of the 250 SX race, he and Jett Lawrence came together with both riders going down.

After winning his heat race earlier on in the evening, Craig looked ready to charge heading into the main. After a good start behind Nichols and then getting caught up in lapped traffic, Craig started to lose touch with his teammate. He finally completed a fifth place position after clawing his way back through the pack after the collision with Lawrence which looked more deliberate than not.

“The day started off well in Indy and I was feeling good with the track,” said Craig.

“I won my heat race and went into the Main confident. I started second behind my teammate and was able to latch onto him for a bit, but once we got into lappers he got away.

I made some crucial mistakes towards the end of the race and with two corners left I hooked bars with another rider and we both went down. I ended up fifth, unfortunately. I’m looking forward to Indy 2 on Tuesday for some redemption!”
