MXGB Foxhill: Clarke earns MX2 Overall

ASA United GasGas MX2 rider Steven Clarke takes the well earned MX2 overall at round four of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship at Foxhills.

Qualifying for the stacked MX2 class was pretty close today, as Conrad seemed to be back to his old self after being ill this past week after the GP. He dominated pretty much from start to finish, putting in a decent time ahead of ASA United Gas Gas rider Steven Clarke, and Bike it MTX Kawasaki’s Taylor Hammal, rounding up the top three.

Heading into race one we saw the Hammal’s team mate Wilson Todd fly out the gate and grab a strong lead ahead of Steven Clarke, with Conrad chasing just behind the pair. Ike Carter the youngster that’s been showing his ability at the last couple of rounds of the championship shot through to towards the front of the pack but ultimately finished seventh. Apico Husqvarna’s two stroke rider Jamie Law had a great opening moto, also sitting in fifth place for the majority of the race but slid back to seventh. We then saw Conrad claiming back a win, followed by Wilson Todd, and Steven Clarke.

Moto two is where things went wild at Foxhills! Conrad holeshotted the first moto pushing hard on board his KTM SXF 250 machine, followed once again by the same pack of Steven Clarke, Wilson Todd, Ike Carter and Gabriel KTM’s John Adamson. Also looking more aggressive in the second MX2 moto of the day, was Liam Everts as he worked his way through the stacked field.

A few riders were suffering problems with the chain jumping off the rear sprocket, after hitting one of the deep ruts in the bottom of the valley, with one of them being Mewse. This eventually cost him the win, and then also cost Wilson Todd the win, a few laps later. This then left the door wide open for Clarke and Adamson, with both of them going at it with two laps to go. This then left Adamson leading and both of them crossing the line at the same time, with ultimately Clarke taking the moto win and the overall title for the day.
