MXGP Afyon: Renaux wins opening MX2 Moto

Monster Energy Yamaha rider Maxime Renaux claimed the first MX2 moto of the day in Turkey, and extended his championship lead.

Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle grabs the holeshot for the opening MX2 moto of the day in Afyon, the second of a double header round at the turkish circuit, as he is chased down by Monster Energy Yamaha and championship red plate holder Maxime Renaux who took over the lead early on on lap four.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Jed Beaton came together with Red Bull KTM’s Mattia Guadagnini mid moto in the battle for fourth and fifth place, with Beaton coming off and dropping down to seventh, as Reneaux starts to pull away at the front of the MX2 pack.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Kay De Wolf starts to charge through the pack in Afyon, making an easy pass by his team mate Beaton and Factory Yamaha rider Thibault Benistant. F&H racing team Kawasaki rider Mathys Boisrame then crashed out of fourth position whilst trying to make the pass on the hard pack circuit.

Renaux however took the race one win by a huge seventeen seconds in Turkey.
