MXGP Britain: ‘I’m over the moon’ – Grimshaw

Chambers Racing Revo ACU British Motocross Championship rider and EMX250 rider Tom Grimshaw grabbed some fantastic results at Matterley Basin this weekend, for the opening EMX250 round.

The opening race of the day saw Tom make a good start and was just outside the top twenty on the opening lap. In his normal determined style Tom put his head down and pushed forward and picked off a number of riders ahead of him, to cross the finish line in a well-deserved fourteenth position.

After a positive first race, Tom was looking for another strong result in the second. Grabbing another start just outside the top twenty, Tom again pushed forward was up to as high as fifteenth, but a small mistake in the closing laps saw Tom slip down to nineteenth position.

Tom’s two points scoring rides gave him seventeenth overall on the day and saw him finish as the top British finisher in the EMX250 class.

“This week was the opening round of the EMX250 championship and all week I have been focusing on producing fast qualifying laps to get that dialled and then I could focus on the races,’ explained Tom.

“I managed to get that sorted in the morning with a good lap time that saw me qualify in an ok position for the races. I was just outside the top twenty off the start and got my head down and charged forward for the whole race. I could hear the crowd cheering me on the whole way around and that really motivated me to push on and on and get fourteenth at the finish, in one of the best races I have produced this year.”

“Then in the second race I was feeling confident and got up to fifteenth and was battling in a pack of riders from fifteenth to twentieth when I made small mistake two laps from the end and paid the price for it and slipped back to nineteenth and that is where I finished. I am over the moon with my riding in both races and the buzz of the crowd cheering me on was just great.”
