MXGP Maggiora: Zonta takes Overall win in Italy
Martin Racing Technology rider Filippo Zonta claimed the overall win today in Maggiora, for the opening EMX Open class round.
A pile up on the first corner in the second EMX Open moto of the day allowed Jeff Oxelmark to lead in the first couple of laps of the moto, as the scrap for second and third between Adrien Escoffer and Matej Jaros continued behind.
Moto one winner Filippo Zonta made the move up into third ten minutes into the second moto, chasing down Nicolas De Court. Making a bold move as Zonta then moved up again into second, this is where he stayed for the remainder of the moto taking the overall win, and also gaining the championship red plate.
Micha boy De Waal struggled again in the second moto of the day making a mistake and crashing, not as spectacular as the first moto this time.
Meanwhile the brit Boys Gabriel KTM’s John Adamson and RFX KTM Nathan Dixon both finished a decent fourteenth and sixteenth to round up the day.
